Just Say Yes.

California Flag

Yesterday, Laura and I went to the Women's March 2018. To be honest, I had no intention of going. Originally, I had plans to meet up with a friend yesterday. When those plans fell through due to rainy weather, I thought of the march as more of a women's event. I pictured a sea of women without any men in it. I just thought it wasn't for me. Perhaps I was unintentionally being close-minded?

Regardless, I did go. Laura asked me to cruise along, and without much hesitation from me we were on our way.

I have been on this kick for the last few years where I aim to "just say yes" to people when asked to join in anything - dinner, an event, a movie, rock-climbing, etc.

When I just say yes and go along on adventures, I am always glad I did. I usually walk away having learned something new, or am simply happy to have spent time with friends.

At the march yesterday, I came away with these ideas:

  1. More of us men should support The Women's March movement.
  2. When you march with 40,000 people, you realize that you have a lot more in common with strangers than you may have first thought.
  3. The energy of 40,000 people walking and chanting with hope for a better future is inspiring.
  4. Today there are hundreds of thousands of people around the country feeling motivated and empowered to help their communities. That is very powerful.

Next time someone asks you to go along, Just Say Yes! You might find that smile you were looking for or the inspiration you needed to keep motivated with your own passions.
