Mission explained

Valley View Hot springs Bees

We wanted to expand on our mission statement a bit in case anyone was still wondering what "Live to Sustain" is all about.

ADAM:

The idea was spurred on by curiosity. I asked myself "How can one contribute to sustainability in a way that is realistically feasible, and still have a tangible impact?" After some thought I realized that no one really knows exactly what sustainability is. I still don't know myself, but that's why I am here to learn. It's Part One of the mission.

We all want to contribute to sustainability in one way or another. The teaching part is intended to help people grasp all the ways we can be sustainable in everyday life. One of the biggest obstacles to sustainability is that we don't really know where to begin. We don't realize that sustainability starts with taking care of our own health, our families' health, so that we can take care of each other, the community at large, and our planet.

I want to help spell it out for everyone, myself included. My wish is for to Live to Sustain to inspire small actions towards positive change. If we can share a tip that helps one person live more sustainably, then that's a great start. The more we know, the easier and more intuitive these decisions should become. That is the mission of teaching sustainability.

LAURA:

Sustainability is a popular buzzword these days, but I think there is a lot of misconception about what it actually means. It's not a competition to see who can live the most gluten-free, chemical-free, toxin-free lifestyle. It's not about judging or shaming people for the decisions they make. Life is full of complicated choices, and I'm certainly not perfect.

Sustainability is about managing our time, people, and energy in a way that can be maintained without depleting our natural resources. It's about reconsidering everything we do - from what we eat to how we work - with the benefit of our planet and all its inhabitants in mind.

Sustainability is a process, and a group collaboration. I'm here to learn as much as I can, and share it with all of you. We're all in this together, and it's going to take collective action to create change. Live to Sustain is meant to start the conversation, to foster community, and inspire action. Let us know if you have any ideas on how we can connect and collaborate to promote a sustainable future.
